  • This channel is a video that discusses the fascination of great apes (#gorilla、#chimpanzee、#orangutan) and enrichment.
Apes are the most intelligent animals and are therefore susceptible to mental illness.
Environmental enrichment is a measure to reduce mental and physical stress and lead a happy life from the standpoint of apes, not from the convenience and emotions of human beings.

Is there not another zoo that these animals can go too where it would be safe and clean for them 😢😢

You don't need to be an animal expert to see that these chimps are extremely unhealthy and need better care. And, we know now that Furt's baby died.

Gaaah...I always dislike seeing this enclosure...everyone seems stressed out...all the hair loss...
That baby is adorable... hopefully mom can keep it safe. I always like baby chimp videos where the other members of the troop move close to curiously inspect and poke the new baby 😊

You would think they would have put Furt indoors when it rained since her baby was so young. I don't know much about chimps but the lack of fur is something I worry about.

The most recent Video of Baby Erin (April 2024) shows her to be way under developed for her age, never leaving the grasp of Furt mama to learn to climb, also in poor health, has insufficient weight, lots of hair loss and haggard looking, I would be surprised if the baby chimp makes it alive to its first birthday

This zoo should know that they need a mature alpha Male in there. You can't just let a young immature Male take that position, or it will be nonstop chaos. Although it seems that most of these chimps are related anyway. Which is also going to cause problems by itself.

I worry so much about Furt and her baby. She is old to be having a new baby and not strong enough against the others. I wonder why these chimps have lost their fur .Furts son who is young has lost his fur, Thank you for sharing food time with the chimps

The fur problem is genetic (according the information I found in other videos and zoo information) they said that they don’t have any illness. But I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ !!!!!

@@carolgallagher7295 you are welcome! I am studying primatology and I am looking for information on the welfare of great apes in zoos, sanctuaries, etc. In general I can say that the keepers go out of their way for the animals and that they do the best they can with the resources they have. You have to think that in the long run zoos must be modernized, etc. and that, moreover, those who live in zoos are unrecoverable. In this case I imagine that the genetic problem is still inherited. It would be necessary to consider captive breeding in these cases... but the animals seem to be in good condition and with a good behavior. Kind regards! :-)

Please chimps health looks Terrible !
I don’t know their backgrounds were they rescued from a research facility or something or are they just not receiving top-notch care like they should?
I know for sure their enclosure is way way way too small for them and it’s definitely having an effect on their emotions and psyche…

It makes some kind of have to move around and choose what they like and more like being up in the trees I think my my guess little bit better than just having a big pile on the relatively dirty ground since concrete doesn't absorb as well as dirt and grass. And they are taking care of a great deal of chimpanzees and doing well just to be able to feed them so I think that's probably why they have it set up like that besides it does keep them separated sort of like with my five cats so that they get a variety of the food they like before the bully comes in and takes it and certainly there's always the outfit in a chimp group.

They're basically in jail - zoos should be outlawed. Only sanctuaries should exist. If someone today wants to learn about an animal they can go online and watch videos. THIS IS SAD...

The chimpanzees are unhealthy. That's why they are losing their fur. The Zoo is taking care very badly of them. Poor Furts baby died of the negligence of the Zoo. What a difference with the chimpanzees in Tama zoo, where they look very healthy.
